OUR LEGACY

Aurora Accounting Solutions is a full-service accounting firm dedicated to helping individuals and small to medium-sized businesses manage their finances with confidence. We offer comprehensive services including bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, and business consulting. Our firm has a proud legacy — originally founded in Aurora, Colorado, in the mid-1980s by Myrna Parkhurst, who brought more than 20 years of experience working in the field. In 2007, her daughter Mary took over the business and relocated to North Carolina in 2010, continuing the family tradition of personalized, trustworthy financial guidance. Mary’s daughter, Andrea, joined the company in 2018 and became a partner in 2024, ensuring that the family’s commitment to exceptional service and community-focused values continues for generations to come.

  • Owner/Enrolled Agent

    Mary Roberts, EA, is a dynamic professional with a diverse and accomplished background. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary is a proud graduate of Metro State University of Denver, where she earned degrees in Management and Psychology. She furthered her education with master's-level work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. 

    In 2007, Mary took over her mother’s accounting practice, continuing a legacy of excellence in serving clients with tax and financial expertise. Beyond her thriving accounting career, Mary is also the owner of a martial arts studio and holds a 2nd-degree black belt, demonstrating her dedication to discipline and personal growth. 

    Mary is deeply involved in her professional community, serving as President of the North Carolina Society of Accountants. Her leadership and commitment to the profession make her a trusted resource and mentor in the field. 

    When she’s not managing her business or training in martial arts, Mary enjoys giving back to her community and helping small businesses and individuals navigate the complexities of financial management.  


  • Partner/Senior Accountant

    Andrea earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Management from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she also served as the Treasurer and later President of the Accounting Association. During college, she worked as an administrative assistant for a CPA firm that specialized in auditing, and after graduation, she continued there as an auditor. In 2024, Andrea became a partner in her family business and loves working side-by-side with her mother to serve their clients and community. She lives in Winston-Salem with her husband and their rescue animals, and in her free time, she enjoys reading and caring for her ever-growing plant collection. 


  • Accountant / Bookkeeper

    Maria was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, she grew up in a small business family that taught her the importance of dedication and community. She attended Western Carolina University, where she earned a degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. Her background has given her a strong appreciation for the work that goes into building something from the ground up, and she enjoys finding ways to connect what she learned in school with real-world experiences. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring the world with her family and friends.

Cristina is an entrepreneur who has continued to grow her company into one of the most beloved sweet spots in the city, navigating the many challenges of being an independent small-business owner. A client for several years, we are always delighted to visit her in her shop and help her achieve her dreams.
